Why should I hire a professional wedding makeup artist?
Before you cut a professional wedding makeup artist from your wedding budget, consider why hiring one is necessary.
Instant calm – As a busy bride you will more than likely spend the time before your wedding worrying about every little detail about the day. A professional makeup artist has one worry – you and your bridal party. Making people look beautiful is what they do and they are great at doing it – especially amidst wedding day chaos.
A photo is forever – A professional makeup artist knows how to make you look great in person and in photos. You need proper skin prep and a bit more makeup than you think for flash photography, and applying the right kind of makeup for photography requires thorough knowledge of the products and techniques. A professional makeup artist can ensure you still look like you – even with more makeup on than you are used to.
You deserve it – You have worked hard to create the perfect wedding day, why not invest in yourself and get pampered! Spend the day making memories and not worrying about your makeup.
Quality products – Quality products are key when it comes down to performance on your wedding day. Considering your wedding day will likely by 16+ hours long, your makeup needs to stand up to the test of ‘wearability’ and longevity – both which depends on your skin type. A professional make up artist only uses quality products and will have the tools and knowledge necessary to select the right products for you!
Why book a makeup trial?
A makeup trial is your opportunity to express your vision for your wedding day make-up and work together with your MUA to create the perfect look. Although trials are not necessary for a bridal booking, they are strongly recommended to relieve you of unnecessary stress on your wedding day.
Can my wedding makeup trial be used for engagement photos?
Absolutely! Trials should be scheduled at least one month before your wedding day. Please note: trials on weekends cannot be guaranteed available.
What does my MUA need the bride to provide the day of?
In the room or rooms in which the makeup will be applied, please ensure:
There is a high bar stool or chair available
There is a large desk or workspace for the MUA to use
The chair and table is set up near natural lighting, such as near a large window
There is an electrical outlet nearby
There is enough room for people to move around without getting in one another’s way
Does the bride or bridal party need to bring or supply any of her own makeup for touch-ups?
Each girl will be responsible for her own touch-up makeup throughout the day. Ensure they have their own lipstick, lip gloss and any other essential makeup items with them or invest in makeup protection and hire us to stay and keep your makeup picture perfect all day! We are also available to be your Beauty BFF’s for the day and follow you around, providing Red Carpet Touch-ups for the ultimate bridal experience.
How much time will my MUA need to complete my entire wedding party?
It depends on how organized the wedding party is! Reserve a block of time for each member of the party to get ready and be sure everyone is available and ready to go. Also remember that it will take the MUA about 15 minutes to set everything up (and take it all down), so it's best to be on time!
The bride will take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete depending on her preferred makeup style, and each bridesmaid approximately 30 minutes. We ask for an additional bit of buffer time (30 mins) as well, to properly clean our tools and wash our hands. Let us know how many ladies need to be glammed up and we can give you a timeline!
How can I ensure my bridal party stays organized and sticks to the timeline?
Consider creating a set of “makeup chair” rules:
Clean faces only – all old makeup should be removed prior to sitting in the makeup chair
No cell phones
No social media
No selfies (save them for when everyone is looking their most glamorous!)
Ask that everyone takes care of what they need to (getting a drink, using the restroom etc) before sitting in the makeup chair
How do you accept payment/How do I pay?
You will be invoiced two weeks before your wedding for all services and add-ons (false lashes, travel fee etc). Payment is due 14 days before your wedding by e-transfer only. Gratuities and additional false lashes not yet paid for (for those who are undecided at invoice time), are payable in cash directly to your artist on the day of your wedding.
